RecipeBrief Privacy Policy

RecipeBrief is a Chrome extension that extracts recipe ingredients and instructions from YouTube cooking videos. This page explains what data the extension handles and how.

What data RecipeBrief accesses

When you click RecipeBrief on a YouTube cooking video, the extension reads:

• The video's title, description, and transcript (if available)
• The URL of any recipe website linked in the video description, and that page's content — used to pull structured ingredient and instruction data directly from the source

RecipeBrief only accesses this data at the moment you actively trigger an extraction. It does not run in the background, and it does not read or track any other browsing activity.

Where that data goes

The video/page content described above is sent to RecipeBrief's backend server (hosted on Vercel), which forwards it to Google's Gemini API to extract the recipe. The extracted result is returned to your browser. No data is retained on the server after the request completes.

What's stored on your device

Extracted recipes you choose to save are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local. This data lives only on your device — it is never uploaded, synced, or shared, and it is deleted if you remove the extension.

What RecipeBrief does not do

• No account or sign-up is required
• No personal information, health information, financial information, or authentication credentials are collected
• Data is never sold or shared with third parties
• Data is never used for advertising or unrelated purposes

Third-party services

RecipeBrief's backend uses Google's Gemini API solely to process video/page content into a structured recipe. No other third-party services receive your data.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a revised date above.
